a little update

Things have been going just fine down south! I have successfully made it to level 2 and begun work training the dolphins. I've done behaviors such as dorsal and ventral layouts, fluke presents, vocal, point follows, A-to-B's and open mouth. Most of these behaviors are to give us the opportunity to inspect all of our dolphins from head to tail. We make sure they do not have any new infections or scrapes and scratches. Of course, whenever I do any of these behaviors I am always being closely watched by trainers. Now each trainer is very different from the other. My mentor is somewhat lenient in letting me do almost any of these behaviors. Others kind of just make me sit there and watch while they talk to me about it.
They also changed up the schedule on us. Now instead of an early shift at 730 its at 7. Its not too bad but i have become so accustomed to getting up at like 645. It starts early but ends early too which isnt necessarily a bad thing. Its weird how we try to get the latest classes possible (i.e. afternoon classes) and how we hate those 9 oclock classes yet I have become very accustomed to waking up before my alarm at about 630. This even happens on my days off and its starting to get a little bit annoying.
On another note, volleyball is going swell. I've been playing every wednesday night and getting pretty damn good. (watch out solway!) I just wish you guys could come down here to cheer me on.

And finally, be sure to take a look at either the school website or under featured stories on Camelweb about my "daily dolphin dose." Eric Cardenas, director of media relations at Conn, came in with his wife and daughter last Saturday and interviewed me. He had told me his family has a place just a mile north of the Dolphin Conservation Center that they come down to every summer so after looking at the CELS list he saw thatd im a short walk away. I apologize to all those that become jealous of this amazing summer but I miss you all and wish you could come!!! I'll be in touch.
