I'm flipping out so I need to post
I'm leaving Prague on Friday. I want to go home, but I don't want to leave. I can't fucking wait to see you all, but I'm afraid of the States and of Real Life. This has been the most amazing semester. I've already tried to change my flight to a day later so I can leave with my friend, but I think it is going to be too expensive ($300 is too much for one day, right????). This is the most amazing city. Libi se mi Praha!! Mluvim Cesky tady, ale v Americky nikdo nevim Cesky. Mam rada Cesko jidlo, mam rada Prazky Hrad, mam rada Ceskou vsechnu! V Patek jedu do Americky. Wow. I'm coming home on Friday. Street signs aren't going to be in Czech and people in stores are going to be nice to me. I won't be able to get a full meal for $3.50. I won't be paying for things in Krowns. The idea is too weird. No more tramvaji and no more Checkers (I had to pay 500KC last week for not having a ticket on the tram, GRRR). No more Kolej Craziness (which is actually a good thing), but no more Kolej life. Oh my god, I'm so sentimental I shouldn't be allowed to even think right now. RAH. Thanks for the space to vent! The idea of seeing you all is worth the sadness of leaving this behind, but I just can't believe it's over.
well you don't get it....
cuz i don't get home for another 2 or so weeks. hope everyone has a schoenes weihnachten (happy christmas yall). and hanukah of course. and kwanza if we're gonna go there. auf wiedersehen, viel spass.

Tis the season...
Hello helloooooo!
How is everyone????? I hope everyone is managing the semester crunch alright. I can't believe the semester is almost over ALREADY. Where did the time go??
I'm back in Prague now for my last ten days (wow) and the traveling craziness came to a close with a big bang. We took a four day weekend last weekend and spent it in a very Christmasy Copenhagen with an excursion to Sweden for a day!
Today and tomorrow are big days in Prague. Tonight was the Eve of Saint Nicholas Day. Starting at 3pm children and parents parade through the city dressed as Saint Nicholas, angels and devils and tomorrow is a big feast day. My friend and I went to the local church and watched the children sing to a man dressed as Saint Nicholas in return for gifts from his angels. We spoke in Czech to a father of one of the children who explained the whole situation to us.
As for the rest of the last 10 days, they should be very busy! For the first time all semester I have work (though it still does not compare to Conn in any way shape or form). Plus, my friends and I have a big list of everything we still want to do in the city. It's going to be fun!!
Since tomorrow is going to be spent accomplishing as much of the list as possible (hopefully a palace and a museum), I should try to get to bed. But I am thinking of you all and I hope you are finding time to enjoy the holiday season. Good luck to those in Finals-Land. You can do it!! I can't wait to see you all very soon.
Much love,
amanda
