SAVE THE DATE:

July 10th a Conn Reunion for all who can make it!!

beyond that...
What time can everyone make it? How about noon?
I was thinking if everyone brought a little something that was picknick-y (i.e. bread, cheese, fruit, cookies, whatever is inexpensive and low maintenance) we could take food/drink etc... to the beach, but we'd meet at Conn first. How does that sound?
I spoke to Nick and he mentioned something about staying over. Was anyone else thinking on that route? I'll have to make it a day trip because I'll have work monday, but that's easy enough. What was everyone else thinking?

I can't wait to see you all in two weeks!!

we're gonna make 'em eat our shit, then shit out our shit, then eat their shit which is made up of our shit that we made 'em eat.

Fuck. I just deleted a post by accident, so I'm just going to post this one out of spite.

The jist of it was that I still highly recommend that everyone try mushrooms, but I think I did a poor job of explaining why. The bottom line is that they will teach you something. For me, it was the value of honesty. I don't know what it would be for you, but neither do you, you simply have to take that scary leap of faith to find out.

As our buddy Socrates said

"I do nothing but go about persuading you all, old and young alike, not to take thought for your persons or your properties, but and chiefly to care about the greatest improvement of the soul. This is my teaching, and if this is the doctrine which corrupts the youth, I am a mischievous person."

and if you don't think it was a life changing experience, well, here I am still talking about it

by the way, if people feel that this is an inappropriate forum for non what-I'm-up-to-these-days type posts tell me, but I'd love to see some more random thoughts, or discussions, or maybe I'm the only one with too much time on my hands :)

Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir?

All of you... anywhooo here I am in the land of cheese and wine, where the euros float like the smoke that wafts from every cigarette in the mouth of nearly every french person...So I have been here for a week. My bro and dad were with us the first three days but then they had to go to the south of france, to Bordeaux...something about working which is something about making money so we can live and I can go to school or something or I don't know that old cheesewheel...

So it's been me and the mom for the past few days. It's been cool, you know, speaking the lingo and that jibberish. It's been A LOT of family...the true test of your language ability is small talk...i hate that stuff...so awkward...especially in another language. But it's been good to see a lot of the Junguenet clan, and some that I haven't met. My cousin has a 2 year old daughter and we broguht her a Mr Potato Head set from the good Ol' USA. (They call it Monsieur Patate ha!) She loved it.

Besides that nothing too exciting but if I do do something exciting I'll try to tell you all as soon as possible because I know that my events are filling the most of your summer.

I hope you all are doing splendidly and i heart each and every one of you! miss you alll!!

Today Madeline took a big shit in my lap

Granted, she had her diaper on, but there was no escaping the smell!
Got to love babies.
They sneeze on you, cough on you, grab your hair and glasses, and today teenie weenie, 8 week-old, adorable, liiiittle Madeline took the biggest crap in her diaper while I was feeding her.
The good part is: Yes, I have a job! Yay! Though I'm jealous of Amanda's stories about Sonalysts, and Jess' fun and gossipy coworker. My coworkers leave something to be desired. But when the kids aren't crying and spitting up and screaming for some seemingly incomprehensible reason, I do have to admit that I love my babies in the nursery. Jake is my little boyfriend (who says a 3 month old can't be charming!), and Emily is the happiest baby I've ever met, and Carly looks like a real, live cabbage patch doll and is as sweet as can be, and liam's a flirt and very fun to dance with to the tune of the Itsy Bitsy Spider and Old MacDonald. Imagine: I used to get sick of Mollie's music! I'd take some of her stuff over Old MacDonald on repeat any day!
So kids, life here is carrying on as always. I work 40 hours a week, but I've still been able to see friends, and bond with my dad over Red Sox games. Unfortunately, the reading is slowing. Before work I read Beloved in 3 days. Since work I'm just barely nearing the end of The Things They Carried and it's been two weeks. But seeing as I am nearing the end... any suggestions?????????? If anyone has them please share!!

Conn Reunion: July 9th, 10th or 31st? Someone with a preference please chime in or I'll just go ahead and pick a day randomly.

Well, going with the territory of childcare, it is 11:15 and I'm pretty wiped. So i'm off to bed to snag some time to read before I pass out.
Sweet dream lovelies, talk soon, take care of your crazy selves and know I'm thinking about you all! (ew, I sound like my grandma) love--a

Rambling...

I have decided that my body thinks its back in high school...my internal clock is SOOO off right now. I go to bed almost every night at 11 and wake up automatically between 6:30 and 7:00 in the morning, even on weekends sometimes. I haven't been able to do that since senior year and its starting to drive me crazy.

Well let's see, I've been working everyday for a design research company. For those of you who I've explained this to once before, yes its the colorbook and the number job (btw, the text is color number 424). I spend half of my day flipping through home decor magazines and catologs and entering data into a computer program. Can we say fun? I really can't complain. I get paid really well and I sit in an air conditioned office while i chit chat with the boss' daughter, Katie, who I went to school with so we gossip alot. In a few weeks I'm going to coach skating in the afternoons but for now I'm content with this one job.

Three days out of the week I have to drive a half an hour to a doctor's office to do something called UVB light Treatment for my skin. I stand in what is a glorified tanning booth for a minute while I receive medically prescribed doses of UVB. And once the minute is over, I have to drive another half an hour home. An hour in a car just to stand in a booth for a minute. Fortunately, its actually working so im super happy. I've had this problem since the fall of senior year and I'm tired of not being able to wear shorts or a skirt without being questioned about my legs. I have six more weeks of this treatment and I hope after that I'll be cured!

So when I'm not doing all of that, I go skating where I can relax. I haven't practiced as much as i would like but just enough to be in shape and to still have my jumps. Its so nice to go to the rink when its 90 outside and cool off in the 60 degree ice rink. I so happy to be able to skate again...the second half of the spring semester when there was no ice was absolute torture, TORTURE!! Anyway....other than that, I've been reading, alot. Any recommendations? I just want to read as much as possible this summer because, hell, why not? Ok, so thats me and what ive been doing. Nothing really exciting but I've been busy at least. Seen a few friends but mainly keeping to myself. Hope everybody is having a good summer so far. Been thinking of you all and missing you all. Feel free to give me a call. TTFN

I play chicken with the train

highlights of the week:

talking to Siliang (the grad assistant at work) about China and the experience of living within another culture, a crazy and rather weird dream involving 2 men dressed in dog suits and vomiting, getting dressed up in 85 degree weather, shmoozing with a whole bunch of people I don't really know at a grad party, lightly bumping into a waiter carrying a full tray of cocktails and having at least 2 of the glasses spill all over andrea's cards/gifts at the party, staying up too late reading, seeing a tid bit of a bicycle race where 50 or so men were riding in unison and then a lone rider about 30 seconds behind (I'd like to think he was about to lap them all), over 40 minute phone calls with zoe and amanda, the usual 'what am I doing with my life' dilemma, losing a gas tank cap of a bmw nick was test driving and then turning it into a frantic mission, taking a break from physics reading/hmk/lab to draw, and hot off the press: michael jackson not guilty on all 10 counts. Sounds like everyone is doing a lot of reading, which is always an awesome thing, and keep making things interesting at work or whatever you are up to! miss you all!

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Hey, has anyone read this book? I just picked it up on a whim a couple days ago while in the middle of Sidhartha, and I havn't touched Sidhartha since. I never usually do this with books, so it must be real good or bad or something, to be honest I don't really know what to think. If anyone has any thoughts on the book, weigh in, I'd love to hear some outside input. Amanda, Rose I'm looking in your direction, but there could definetly be a wildcard in here somewhere. Hope everyone's summer is bitchin
Way profundo on the early eve of your day
:)

It's Too Darn Hot

So I'm trapped on campus for the weekend and thought I'd do the good thing and write a post. I'm sorry to say I'm not very good at this keeping in touch thing. In fact, I rather suck at it. So give me a call, I'm never doing anything really worth mentioning, and I'll appreciate it lots. But just because I haven't spoken to many of you since the end of the year doesn't mean I'm not thinking of you guys all the time. You've all managed to infiltrate my dreams at one point or another, and I have some pretty weird ass dreams... but that is beside the point.

When I'm not at work or hanging out with all the people here, I'm lying around wondering if it could possibly get any hotter and if it would be ok to walk around in my bra and underwear. I usually end up watching crap tv or saying "puerto rican" or "perro" over and over again to try to convince my tongue that it can roll Rs if it just tries hard enough. But when I am hanging out with people (people being, in no particular order: Natalie, Seb, Kristin, Nate, Katy, Fred, Cornelius, Brian, Ellen, Peter, Sara Jay (until she left), Kerry, and Brendan, my fellow intern), we have a lot of fun. I've watched way too many movies, but I don't know that this is a problem. We are going to try and watch in Olin tonight, and maybe have a sleepover in Blaustein because it has air conditioning.

Work is good. Gerardo, my supervisor, wasn't here this week bacause he went to some kind of sculpture contest in Philly. It was kind of nice, because that meant that Jordan got to be more involved, and he doesn't mind teaching me and Brendan things or answering our questions. Nice to have someone you know at work who actually knows what he is doing. Heh, I just realized you all have no idea what work is at this point, since I haven't told you. Basically, we are working on this pilot for an animated television show about, I kid you not, dinosaurs who ride motorcyles. It's kind of a slightly unoriginal mix of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, and maybe a little Captain Planet thrown in for educational purposes. We all laugh about it, but it has been a lot of fun to work on. They've given us a ton more responsibility than I would have thought they would, so if you ever get to see the show, I'll be able to point out our work everywhere. We also stayed late Thursday to work on this music video, and got to know people in other departments. I am incredibly jealous that they get to use the kind of equipment they do. SO COOL. I've also discovered there is a pool on the facilities, so you know I will be there a lot.

Anyhow, it's hot, and I'm lazy, and I promised I wouldn't write a novel on this. Just enough to pique your interest so then you'd all call me. Seriously, call. I get crap reception, though, so room phone would be better, X4846. I'm not doing anything. And if I am, I won't pick up. Miss you all and hope things get less boring.

Love,

Amanda

semi up to date

So I have been staying busy with physics, which is a blast and a half! (soaked with sarcasm) Before I started taking class, I thought 'oh, what a shame it will be if I really like physics, and want to major in it...' well, I sure as heck don't need to worry about that! But I am hanging in there, yay pre-med track! This past weekend, I took a study break, and saw Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants with Carolyn. Just love the girly movies, and this was definitely an aww sort of modern day Now and Then girl movie. And then hung out with some of my camp friends, and found out that Adam had body lice over the year. Yea, you read that correctly-body lice! He looked down at his leg, and saw something crawling around and then he saw more, and he was like 'wait, are those eggs?!'. Rather gross, and well amusing, but watch out for those buggers! Well I have a physics test in a bit, but hope you all are having fun in the sun, cause the summer weather has finally come around!

Conn Reunion!!

So I've talked with many of you already and everyone sounds excited about the idea of a reunion at conn sometime this summer.
SO...
since I'm in an organizing mood
Could everyone interested post weekends that would be good for them or post weekends they totally can't do?

Right now I have most weekends free, so I'm flexible, though weeks are tough because of work. What about you all??????
