Hey, has anyone read this book? I just picked it up on a whim a couple days ago while in the middle of Sidhartha, and I havn't touched Sidhartha since. I never usually do this with books, so it must be real good or bad or something, to be honest I don't really know what to think. If anyone has any thoughts on the book, weigh in, I'd love to hear some outside input. Amanda, Rose I'm looking in your direction, but there could definetly be a wildcard in here somewhere. Hope everyone's summer is bitchin
Way profundo on the early eve of your day

Drew, I loved Perks...
such a great book
the boy is an amazing character
I read it almost four years ago and still remember details (which is rare for me)
but you better pick sidhartha back up, because that fucking book is soooo good. a definite favorite. Especially the last few pages. You thought shrooms were enlightening, you just finish Siddhartha!
I'm reading The Things They Carried now. Rose read it for class and lent me her book. I love it, and I just finished Beloved (have you read either of these?) and it's the perfect book to come after that.
Blah blah blah... see what happens when you ask an english major about a book!
hope the hamptons are treating you well--a
Beloved is about the black mother and daughter living in civil war era living with a ghost who totally consumes their lives. It's amazing. If you haven't read it you definitely should, but I guess I'm biased.
The Things They Carried goes so well with beloved, because it is so much about how to tell an untellable story, how do you make it real, and how what's fiction is often just as real as what happened etc... so it's perfect for me right now. I want to have Tim O'Brien's babies. he's an amazing author.
